Non-resident foreign nationals can attend St. Ambrose Academy under an F1 Visa.

Limits on foreign student enrollment.

St. Ambrose Academy is principally put at the disposal of families of the Diocese of Madison. Therefore, a limited number of foreign non-immigrant students are accepted, not to exceed 5 percent of enrollment.

Limits on tuition assistance.

St. Ambrose Academy does not offer tuition assistance to foreign non-immigrant students.

English fluency.

St. Ambrose Academy offers a classical education, an important component of which is guided classroom discussions, which are principally conducted in English. Therefore, to be accepted applicants must demonstrate conversational fluency in English. This can be demonstrated in an interview, or by a TOEFL score of at least 500 (paper score), 173 (computer score) or 61 (iBT/Internet-based) administered by an official US agency or institution in the US or the student’s home country.

Eligibility of foreign students to attend St. Ambrose Academy as a non-immigrant

1.1    In order to be admitted to the United States for study at St. Ambrose Academy  (SAA) in grades 6–12 on an F-1 or F-2 visa, an applicant must obtain a SEVIS Form I-20 issued in his or her own name from SAA.
1.2    SAA will only issue a Form I-20 to a student who
a.    has satisfied all the entrance requirements of the school, including adequate academic preparation, acceptance of school mission, and fluency in English; and has been accepted for admission;
b.    provides proof of sufficient funding to pay for the cost of schooling and living expenses while in the U.S.;
c.    has made arrangements to reside with a legal guardian living in the Madison area; and
d.    has paid the nonrefundable SEVIS fee of $250.
1.3    Students must attend SAA full time.

After obtaining an F-1 or M-1 visa, the prospective student may apply for entry into the United States through a U.S. POE no more than 30 days prior to the program start date on the student's Form I-20.
