Beyond Humanities

Two Freshman students examine quail eggs as part of their study of embryology.

Catholic classical education includes the modern sciences and mathematics. This winter, Mrs. Wentworth’s 9th grade Biology class observed the development of embryonic quail. Alice Wentworth is a retired senior researcher in the UW-Madison Animal Sciences Department. In addition to teaching Biology at St. Ambrose, Mrs. Wentworth offers summer courses at UW-Madison. She set up a project to incubate quail right in Room 210 at St. Ambrose. Each day, students observed the quails’ development and carefully monitored the quails’ environment.
