The St. Ambrose Academy Board of Directors
Joan received her M.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then completed four years in the Ph.D. medieval literature program; she taught multiple literature and composition courses at this time. She left the program to give birth to twins. Joan and her husband Patrick own Carey Associates, Inc., a technical documentation company. They are the parents of six children, two St. Ambrose students and four St. Ambrose graduates.
Grant is in charge of special projects for the Diocese of Madison with his background as a registered professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin. He is an officer of the Madison chapter of Serra International and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to co-founding St. Ambrose Academy, Grant helped found Safe Place for Newborns-Wisconsin to protect infants from abandonment. He and his wife Nancy are the parents of five children, one St. Ambrose student and three St. Ambrose graduates.
Dr. Rob Marsland received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University. He then received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He helped found New Focus, Inc., Focused Research, Inc., and Optametra, three optical technology companies. He is a senior manager at Tektronix. He and his wife Diane have seven children, including two current students and two graduates of St. Ambrose Academy.
David is a patent attorney and partner in the Madison law firm of Stiennon & Stiennon. He is president of the Technical Club of Madison and president of the board of Our Lady of Hope Clinic. He also serves as chairman of the Diocese of Madison Southwest Dane Enrollment Management and Development Team.
Scott is a management consultant and owner of Revitalogic LLC. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has worked as an investment officer and fund manager in various capacities. Scott has a B.S. in Business Administration from Creighton University in Omaha, and a M.S. in Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and his wife Melanie live in Sun Prairie with their three children and are parishioners of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish.
